FAQ’s

1)    How do I do well at auditions?

You never get a second chance to make a first impression, so practice, practice, practice!  In the competitive performing arts industry, aspiring actors should see an every audition as a success in itself, as it is a chance to perform in front of the camera & a casting director.   Naturally, we screen test all new and emerging talent to assess exactly where you are in terms of ability.  Training isn’t always necessary and many people do very well in the industry with little or no training.  At the same time, we have found that some respond really well to further development and use our in-house training as a launching pad into a successful acting or modelling career.   Also, get to know the key casting directors and keep an eye out for their workshops.  It is best to speak to your agent about your specific requirements.    View our Workshops & Courses to see what V Management offers.

2)    How much does it cost to join V Management and have you represent me?

The great news is that there are no fees to ‘join’ V Management Actors & Models; it is completely free to sit down with one of our  consultants to discuss what work possibilities there are for somebody with your “look” and abilities, and discussing your suitability for work in the industry.  Should you be invited to join the agency, fees do apply for third-party industry databases, however, like good ‘headshots’, being listed on an industry database greatly increases your exposure, marketability, and prospect of being submitted for acting, extra or commercial work.

3)    That sounds reasonable, but is there a catch?

Well basically we invest our time doing our best to ensure that you are provided with as many opportunities as possible; offering training and advice if required.  We will only invite you to join the agency if you have a good attitude, are reliable, and believe there is a likelihood of you gaining work (without guaranteeing it).  If you get work,  we take a small percentage of the total amount that you earn (industry standard)……..so if you don’t get any work then your investment has been very small, where as our time and effort has been high, this means that we are very motivated for you to succeed, it is a win-win situation!

4)    Do I need professional photographs?

Professional photographs are not compulsory, however as most Casting Directors will tell you, good professional photographs or ‘headshots’ are a very important marketing tool for you, and can be crucial to getting castings.  If you are serious about getting into the industry and putting your best foot forward then we would recommend you have up to ten professional shots.  If you have them already fantastic, if not, we can arrange an industry professional for you.  Remember, seek advice when getting photographs because some people pay way too much, and end up with photographs that aren’t particularly suitable for the film & television industry, so consult with your agent first.

5)    Will I get work?

No legitimate agency can promise or guarantee you work.  We are not employers, nor are we the clients selecting you.  However, we will work with you to seek out job opportunities.  Essentially, we get you to the audition, it is up to you to win them, with our help, guidance and mentoring naturally.  Whilst we will submit you for every casting call which suits your look and/or ability, we strongly encourage our people to accept responsibility for their success and make sure that they are doing everything possible to be successful in this tough and competitive industry.  Some people get a lot of work, some get a little, and a few may not get work at all.  This really depends on your determination, ability, attitude, marketing tools, and relationship with your agent.  The best piece of advice….find a good, proven agent with industry experience, build a relationship with them, and stick with them.

6)    What size do I have to be to be a model?

This varies considerably depending on what type of modelling work you are looking for & “what’s hot” is always changing, but basic size & height requirements do apply. Obviously what is ideal in a Catwalk Model is different to what is sought after for fashion shoots, and now “plus size” and “classic” models are also in demand which makes for a much wider talent pool to be drawn from.

Here are some basic guidelines as to what the basic requirements are for each different types of work:
